When you use the DeepSeek API through DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code or Codex, the agents' server-side web tools call DeepSeek's Search API (structured web results from DeepSeek's in-house search engine) and Fetch API (a single page returned as Markdown). These calls are currently free of charge.

Per-request billing starts at 00:00 Beijing time on November 1, 2026 (16:00 UTC on October 31). After that, each API costs $0.75 per 1,000 successful requests. Failed requests, empty search results and timeouts are never billed.

The free period covers only Search and Fetch request fees. Model token usage is billed as normal, and direct calls to the standalone Search and Fetch endpoints are billed at the regular rate.
